Coal River Valley

Situated on historic coal river plains, Coal River Valley is home to some of Tasmania’s highest quality cool-climate grapes. Located less than half an hour from Hobart, between the historic townships of Richmond and Cambridge, the fertile and picturesque Coal River Valley is densely packed with vineyards, orchards and market gardens.

    Interesting wines from grapes grown on the property made by the grower. They include an Orange Chardonnay, a zero dosage sparkling and a rose pet Nat and the Montepulciano grape. The wines have been aged and the winemaker will take you through how they were made and how that makes them taste.

    Brinktop is teaming up with Six Friends Vineyard from up the road to offer you a great selection of Coal River Valley Wines to try in one place.

  • Craigow Vineyard

    Craigow was one of the first vineyards established in the Coal River Valley, and crafts its wines to reflect the characteristics of the region.

    Situated on the oldest vineyard in the Coal River Valley, Domaine A was the first Tasmanian winery to receive Langton’s Classification for its vaunted Bordeaux-style Cabernet Sauvignon.

    This year they’re putting on special tasting flights and welcoming back the much-loved Stoney Vineyard Rosé (in a delightful new bottle).

    Owners Maurice and Helen Curtis are not just wine makers, but they are also award-winning chocolate makers. When tasting our four top wines you will be taken on a chocolate and wine journey as we pair 4 delicate handmade chocolate with each wine as part of our “Meet the Chocolate Maker experience”.

    On Sat and Sun from 11am-1.30pm join Helen and Maurice for a special ticketed Sip and Pour event: Indulge in a decadent day of wine, chocolate and pizza, while you sip on their range of exquisite limited-release wine.

    A boutique producer of premium cool-climate wines, Merriworth is a tribute to the unique landscape on which the vineyard stands.

    The Merriworth team are delighted to welcome visitors to their cellar door for the Spring in the Vines long weekend. They will be launching one new wine and offering barrel samples from the 2024 vintage.

    Hidden on the other edge of the Coal Valley, Nocton Vineyard is a beautiful secret. Being the only producer of Chenin Blanc, good news is travelling fast.

    Our eclectic Cellar Door is set amongst 36h of vines planted 25 years ago, with million dollar views. Our staff will guide you through a full complimentary tasting.

    For Spring in the Vines, we will have all new release wines available for tasting over the weekend, Gamay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling!!!

    Wobbly Boot is the only vineyard in Australia that uses an 'Animals first' philosophy in grape growing, winemaking and in its business model of animal welfare and wildlife rescue fundraising.

    Lynda and Paul will be offering wine tastings of their Sparkling Maeve, Rieslings (dry and Late Harvest), Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir all weekend.

    On Sat and Sun from 11am-12.30pm join the Wobbly Boot family for a special ticketed Wine Showcase Brunch featuring a welcome Sparkling, vineyard tour and a Mediterranean style brunch matched with their limited release wines.
